Mirthe Biemans is the advisor to the CEO of Humanitas. In this capacity she focuses on strategy and public outreach. Humanitas is one of the main social services and volunteer organisations in the Netherlands. Annually, Humanitas helps over 65.000 people in vulnerable situations all over the country. Before holding several positions in Humanitas – in project management, fundraising and leading the Humanitas academy – she was programmes manager of a renowned conflict reconciliation organisation in Jerusalem (IPCRI). She holds a master’s degree in International Development Studies.
Her strong commitment to social justice and citizen participation also shows from her political and social activities. Among other things she founded Stroom Nederland, an organisation that supports grassroots social initiatives.
