Laura de Bonfils
International Policy, Advocacy and Fundraising Manager
Laura de Bonfils joined the Volonteurope Secretariat and Volunteering Matters in 2016 as Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, from the 1st of April 2017 she became European Policy and Advocacy Manager. Since the 1st April 2018 she is the International Policy, Advocacy and Fundraising Manager. She is Italian by passport and grew up in Rome, but studying and working in three other European capitals made her feel first and foremost a European citizen. At Volonteurope she is in charge of the coordination of the policy and advocacy work as well as leading on the research outputs (Publications & Policy papers) and managing several European projects.
Prior to this Laura worked as a freelance researcher in social policy with a focus on equality, employment and migration. She worked at the European Institute for Gender Equality in Vilnius from 2012 to 2013, co-authoring the first edition of the Gender Equality Index. She also has previous experience working in several communications teams in non-profit organisations as well as working as a journalist for several Italian media, and as a Communications Officer for international events and theatre performances.
Laura has an undergraduate degree in Communications and Journalism from LUMSA University, and spent a semester at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid during her degree. She has an MA in Publishing and Journalism from LUMSA University and an MSc. in Gender, Media and Culture from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Laura is passionate about advocating for social justice and is involved in several volunteering projects, supporting the Italian community across Europe and an LGBT organisation in Lithuania. She currently lives in Brussels.
