Pieter Baeten

Profile Type: Volonteurope staff
About me

Pieter Baeten joined the Volonteurope secretariat in August 2016. Previously, he worked as a substitute history, art history and humanities teacher in Flemish general and vocational secondary schools and as deputy director of a Belgian emergency refugee centre.

As an Erasmus student he studied a year at the Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic before obtaining his master degree in Modern History at KU Leuven in Belgium. Fascinated by the possibilities of European cooperation he undertook an additional master education at the KU Leuven in European Studies, focussing on migrants and minority rights and nationalism in Europe.

During his studies he volunteered for the International Students of History Association and KOCO International to facilitate the exchange of viewpoints between humanities students from all corners of Europe.
