Imago Mundi Association ten year anniversary celebration!
In 2018, Imago Mundi Association celebrates 10 years’ of existence. The organisation was established in 2008, in the small rural community of Malureni, county of Arges, Romania by dedicated teachers and youngsters.
A decade later, Imago Mundi set out to promote the spirit of volunteering, non-formal education and providing educational opportunities to young people from rural areas, has accomplished a lot of things along the way. Currently with a rich resume in terms of educational projects and impact on the local community, Imago Mundi takes pride in being one of the most active organisations in the field of non-formal education working in the rural areas of Romania. With four youth workers, four interns, and more than thirty dedicated volunteers, we continue to develop educational projects both at local and European level.
The tenth year of activity comes with new and exciting developments as Imago Mundi embarks on the +CARE project, funded through the EU Aid Volunteers Initiative of the European Union. Also as part of Volonteurope network we are determined to engage in new projects with our current partners within the network, and to look for partnerships with newer members.
In 2010 we set the goal of getting involved in initiatives that continue to support young people from rural areas, and we are currently continuing this work with the support of companies such as OMV Petrom. OMV Petrom’s CSR policy has supported us in implementing educational activities on first aid, career guidance and improving life skills for young people in rural areas of Romania.
This year, a series of ten events, conferences, debates, non-formal activities with young people and flashmobs, are planned to take place in order to celebrate our decade of existence. The first event took place on 1 March when our volunteers celebrated the coming of spring and gave hundreds of tulips to people from the city centre of Pitesti, county of Arges. We have more events to follow, and we are looking forward to our next ten years of work with young people in the rural areas of Romania.
