[:en]Following the successful training of the Positive Futures volunteers, earlier last week European Project Manager James Moon hosted a ProVol training course for experienced volunteer coordinators – taking place in Cardiff from 19 until 21 January.

The coordinators in this training session were able to draw on many years’ of professional experience in managing volunteers; nevertheless they still found the training useful. The session concentrated on enhacing the coordinators’ communication skills, as well as prompting debates amongst the coordinators. These centred around how objectives in volunteering projects can be made clearer, and which role volunteers play in the grand scheme of projects.

The additional training in event management and networking were well received as the participants enthusiastically participated in the opportunity to improve their skills in these fields. One coordinator told James Moon afterwards that “it was really useful to get a good overview of training techniques that can be used when dealing with volunteers.”[:]
