[:en]Last week James Moon and Adriana Rackley met in Cardiff with fifteen volunteers who wanted to engage for their community by reading in schools.
With the help of our ProVol handbooks they were introduced to the status of volunteering in the UK and instructed on how they how could best engage with school children. During this training session special attention and guidance was given to the volunteers on communication skills and working in groups effectively. The training session was also enhanced with additional useful sessions on literacy and numerical skills.
The training was a great success as it enabled volunteers to enhance their skills and become much better acquainted with status of volunteering in the UK, and how best to enter this sector. One of the participants remarked: “I never realised that as a volunteer I am part of a wider team. Thanks to this training I understand the role I am playing much better.”[:]
