[:en]Talk With Me is an innovative joint project that brings together Tulip Foundation from Bulgaria, Volonteurope member Gemeinsam leben & lernen in Europa from Passau, Germany and Centrul de Voluntariat from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The project is funded in the frame of Erasmus+ programme of the EU and it is aimed at development and adaptation of an interactive programme for young volunteers. Through this programme the young volunteers are able to provide support for refugee children and young people to help them to learn the language of the country where they currently live.
The programme includes development of educational and teaching materials that are adapted for the needs and the interests of young people. The model has been applied successfully in Germany and is based not on an academic learning of the language but on opportunities for communication on general themes and using the language in everyday life. The aim is to create opportunities for talking and sharing as the local language serves as a basis for communication, thinking, acquisition and passing on knowledge and information. Refugees often do not have the opportunity to practice the new language.
After two working meeting in Passau and Cluj the teams of the three organisations are currently working on a manual for Talk With Me that presents the programme and the materials.
Tulip Foundation’s team has already had a series of meetings with young refugees in Sofia. The first volunteer training sessions will start on 29 June and a number of young people have expressed their interest in taking part in the programme. The meeting of refugees and volunteers will start soon after these first training sessions.
