Volonteurope to play key role in Civil Society Days

Volonteurope, with the European Youth Forum (YFJ) and EESC Sustainable Development Observatory (SDO) will run an online workshop at next week’s Civil Society Days (1-5th March).

Our intern Furkan, who has now returned to Istanbul after his study exchange in Belgium, is continuing his internship with us and coordinating all the preparations and is doing a fantastic job.

The workshop on ‘Youth activism, systemic change and recovery in Europe’ will run on 3 March at 2.30pm CET with three breakout rooms with Volonteurope running ‘Health and socio-economic wellbeing – preventing yet another lost generation.”

YFJ will organize ‘Human rights, civic space and participation – protecting and strengthening our democracies’ and the SDO a session on ‘Beyond recovery – sustainable alternatives to rebuild better, more inclusively.’

Volonteurope Secretary General, Piotr Sadowski, who will lead the closing session of the week-long event said: “Civil Society Days are an important week in the European calendar, particularly as last year’s event was cancelled because of the pandemic.

“I’m delighted that Volonteurope will be able to represent its 40 members from across Europe and beyond and contribute to discussions about ‘A sustainable recovery for the future of Europe’s citizens’.

“I’m also excited that our members Imago Mundi, New Europeans and Gemeinsam leben & lernen in Europa will be directly involved through our workshop and as key speakers.

“Whilst speaking at the final closing plenary session I will be able to reflect and respond to proposals coming in from the 8 workshops so I very much hope that you get involved so I can directly pick up and advocate on your behalf before representatives of the EU institutions.”

There’s still time to view the full programme and you can register directly here.
